Note: Sorry this was a little late. I’m in Jacksonville right now recovering. First time I’ve been under the weather. I should be up to snuff by the time I’m in Orlando. All that’s left is a tiny cough, and it’s fading. Also, Thanks all. At 4 paid subscribers. I appreciate that. Onward…
Boston was gloomier than I expected. My first impression of the city was that it was a cloudy one. It’s definitely one of those ones where I feel the grey clouds fit the mood of the place. Yet in spite of that little bit of impression, Boston turned out to be quite fine overall.
I got in via the greyhound station, which was an incredibly immaculate building. Leaving it, I wandered my way through Downtown Boston. Boston was a nice combination of ancient history and modern beats. I hit downtown on a quiet day, and explored the area, settling on one of the best donut places I’ve ever been to.
Yummy Donut aside, I explored the downtown. The waterway in the pier is quite beautiful, and there are a lot of things to see and witness. Like Maine, there’s a lot of boats in the ocean, but there’s also a lot of places to go check out things to do.
One such corner I saw my first street performer. This is a huge thing for Boston as this has been the first Street Performer I’ve seen on the trip so far. He used ladders, bowling balls, knives and other things to juggle. His big trick was to juggle on top of two very large ladders. He needed volunteers to hold the ladders up while he did what he did.
Enter me and 8 others. I was very impressed with Mr. Street Performer. He put a lot of work into his craft, and has been performing across the country, and I was thrilled to be a part of the journey to get there.
Afterwards, I had to look at where to sleep. That night I chose logan airport. To date, it is the best airport I’ve ever slept in. The cots they provided made it really easy to pass out in and I was done for the night.
The next day, I went back into downtown boston to do my freelance work. After doing that I did some writing and headed back into the bus station. Boston is a pretty city, but I missed a bit of it due to my time there, and also, my lack of funds. I had New York to prepare for, and that was my focus. I figured that’d my time in New York would take the money I had.
I was right. But that’s the next entry.
I wish I had had the chance to meet my friends that were in Boston. But I did get a quick bit of fun in the city. It didn’t feel like a place I’d be happy sticking around. That’s the impression I got with the city. It’s a fun place to visit, but it’s not a place to stick around.
Then again, it might be me. I just am not a big city guy.
Anyhoo, I know this one is short. The next one will be long. New York was a trip. I hope you enjoy it.
